Long PhamBadge Number 219C
1989 - 2024
Killed in the Line of Duty August 3rd, 2024

We Honor the Sacrifice He Made

On August 3, 2024, CSO Long Pham and another CSO were performing traffic control at the scene of an earlier traffic collision.  Their CSO vehicle was parked, blocking the #1 lane of southbound Monterey Road at Palm Avenue, utilizing the fully illuminated lightbar, flares and traffic cones.

Both CSOs were standing behind their patrol vehicle opposite oncoming traffic when a drunk driver collided with the CSO vehicle impacting the two CSOs. Both CSOs were transported to a local hospital with severe injuries.  Despite life saving measures by patrol officers and medical personnel, CSO Pham was ultimately pronounced deceased at the hospital. The other CSO fortunately survived her injuries. The intoxicated driver of the vehicle responsible for the collision was arrested at the scene and charged with murder.

CSO Pham was the first San Jose Community Service Officer to die in the line of duty.

We would like to remember Community Service Officer Pham with a moment of silence.
