On October 6, 2024, at approximately 12:15 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a report of a hit and run collision in the area of Bernal Road and San Ignacio Avenue. Upon arrival, Officers discovered the adult male suspect was involved in a vehicle collision with the adult male victim. The victim was in the vehicle with his spouse and one year old child. When the victim attempted to contact the suspect to exchange information, the suspect brandished a firearm and threatened the victim. The suspect then fled the scene prior to police arrival. Patrol Officers identified the primary suspect as Timothy Headman.
San José Police Department Assaults Unit Detectives began a thorough investigation and obtained a search warrant for suspect Headman's residence.
On October 7, 2024, Patrol Officers observed suspect Headman's vehicle and conducted a traffic enforcement stop. Officers took the suspect into custody and located a rifle magazine and ammunition on the suspect. Assaults Unit Detectives, with the assistance of Special Operations Violent Crimes Enforcement Team (VCET) and Metro Unit, executed the search warrant at the suspect's residence. During the execution of the search warrant, Detectives seized multiple firearms and rifles, a machine gun, a short barreled rifle, miscellaneous firearm accessories and various amounts of ammunition.
Suspect Headman was later booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for criminal threats, brandishing a firearm, hit and run and various felony gun charges.
