On July 25, 2024, at approximately 6:26 PM, San José Police Department Officers responded to the area of Tully Road and La Ragione Avenue for a report of a vehicle collision involving a bicyclist. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
Two bicyclists, an adult male and adult female, were each crossing Tully Road traveling from south to north outside of a crosswalk. A 2018 white Ford Transit van, occupied by an adult male driver, was traveling west bound on Tully Road in the number two lane. The van swerved to avoid colliding with one of the bicyclist when it struck the adult female bicyclist.
The adult female bicyclist was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries where she was later pronounced deceased.
The driver of the van remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation.
This is the 25th fatal collision and 25th traffic death of 2024.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office.
