On February 10, 2024, at approximately 2:09 PM, patrol Officers responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the 800 block of Saratoga Avenue. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 2004 tan Volkswagon Touareg utility vehicle, occupied by an adult male driver, was backing out of a driveway on the west side of Saratoga Avenue when it struck an adult female pedestrian who was walking on the west sidewalk of Saratoga Avenue.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and was ultimately pronounced deceased.  

The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

This is the 8th fatal collision and 8th traffic death of 2024. This is also the 5th pedestrian death of 2024.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
