On December 29, 2023, at approximately 6:56 PM, patrol Officers responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the area of Umbarger Road and Senter Road. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2016 gray Acura, occupied by an adult female driver, was travelling westbound on Umbarger Road when it struck an adult male pedestrian who was crossing Umbarger Road in a southbound direction outside of any marked crosswalks.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries and later stabilized.
The driver remained on scene.
On January 13, 2024, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
This is the 2nd fatal collision, and 2nd traffic death of 2024. This was also the 2nd pedestrian death of 2024.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
