On October 13, 2023, at approximately 10:21 AM, Officers responded to the 2000 block of Newton Avenue for a call of a home invasion robbery. Officers contacted an adult male victim at the scene. Based on the preliminary investigation, the victim interrupted a burglary in progress at his residence. The suspect struck the victim in the face with a pistol, resulting in non-life threatening injuries. The armed adult male suspect took multiple belongings and personal property from the residence.
The San José Police Department's Robbery Unit responded to the scene and began a thorough and comprehensive investigation into the incident. During the course of their investigation, Detectives positively identified the male suspect, and obtained an arrest warrant and search warrant for his residence. Special Operations personnel from the METRO Unit, VCET (Violent Crimes Enforcement Team) and MERGE responded to the suspect's residence in Santa Clara and took the suspect into custody shortly afterwards without incident.
Robbery Detectives served a search warrant at the suspect's residence and recovered property stolen during the robbery, narcotics, as well as a loaded firearm and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
The suspect was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for robbery and conspiracy charges, and later released on bail.
