On July 4, 2023, the San José Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the 3300 block of Shadow Park Place. Upon arrival, Officers located an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound. During the investigation, it was determined that the victim was shot as a result of an armed robbery committed by several suspects who fled prior to police arrival.
SJPD Robbery Detectives began a thorough and comprehensive investigation into the incident. Detectives were able to identify four suspects responsible for the incident and obtained arrest warrants for the suspects as well as search warrants for their residences. On July 31, 2023, Suspect Marco Gurrola, was arrested by the SJPD Violent Crimes Enforcement Team (VCET).During the arrest, two firearms were recovered. Suspect Marco Gurrola was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for the possession of firearm charges, attempted homicide and armed robbery.
On September 5, 2023, Suspect Matthews was arrested in the city of San José, Suspect Mykah Gurrola was arrested in the city of Milpitas, and Suspect Erika Montes-Padilla was arrested in the city of Cupertino. All three suspects were booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for attempted homicide and armed robbery.
