On September 4th, 2020 at approximately 3:14pm, Officers responded to the area of Blossom Hill Road and Coyote Road to investigate a collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2013 White Mazda CX7, driven by an adult female, was traveling westbound on Blossom Hill Road. In an attempt to drive around a vehicle and get onto the highway 101 northbound on-ramp, the driver of the vehicle traveled into the bike lane and struck a 76-year-old male, who was riding his bicycle in the bike lane. The bicyclist was transported to the hospital.
On 10/13/20 at approximately 8:30am, the 76-year-old male succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. At the time the collision occurred, the driver of the vehicle was uninjured and cooperated with the investigation.
This is the 40th fatal collision incident for 2020 and the 41st victim.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.

At the conclusion of the department's traffic investigation the facts will be presented to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office to determine criminal charges, if any.
